CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW 2023

Towards the end of 2022 I was delighted to be part of one of the show gardens at The Chelsea Flower Show. Working with Julie Haylock at Sandhurst Garden Design.

Julie envisioned a garden dedicated to the famous palaeontologist Mary Anning.

I was commissioned by Julie to carve Mary's poem " I see sea shells by the sea shore" into

forest marble, which is quarried in Somerset and is part of the Blue Lias seem where Mary Anning found her Icthyosaur, in Lyme Regis.

The garden is an educational experience aimed at young children.

So with this in mind I wanted the poem to express movement and fun.

Therefore the lettering followed a sweeping pathway which lead to exciting fossils hidden away at the back of the stand.

It was very successful, leading to Julie receiving a bronze award at the show.

The carved stones now reside at Charmouth primary school Dorset, after they were donated by Sandhurst Garden Design.

Below are a few process photos and some from the show in 2023.
