About Us

Dan Anderson is a well regarded and sought after letter cutter and designer based in the UK.
Having worked for 20 years for renowned stone carver and sculptor Philip Thomason undertaking commissions all over the world, Dan now has his own workshop based in Somerset.

All of the work is designed and drawn by hand and then carved in the traditional way with mallet and chisel.
From the smallest commission, to work that runs into thousands, the same thought and consideration is taken.

Dan regularly sends work across the globe, recently to New Zealand, California and Cyprus.

The largest lettering commission to date is at The Newt in Somerset.
This involved carving and fitting over 70 kerb and wall signs (110 separate stones) in Thornback Purbeck stone and Blue Lias situated in the orchard Parabola. The kerb and wall stones follow the meandering pathways indicating the relevant counties to the apple tree planting. Well over 800 letters and symbols were hand carved and painted in this commission.
